Winter Opening:
Lutsen Mountains resort is projected to open for the season on November 18th/19th! Of course opening will be weather dependent. Even with a warmer than usual, projected El Niño year they have the ability to create snow and get you on the slopes sooner than later. This past year Lutsen had one of its longer winter seasons and was open from November 18th until April 16th providing 149 days of adventure. The last lengthier ski durations occurred from 2017 to 2019 and boasted 150, 171 and 170 days of skiing. There is always potential to be skiing into the first weekend in May. Of course you'll want to play it safe and book a stay between December and April for best snowfalls.
*NOTE: Lutsen Mountains is implementing a daily capacity limit for the 2023-2024 season. This ensures a high quality visit but definitely limits the availability and access for lift tickets so you'll want to grab your dates sooner than later. Rates and availability are subject to change but as of now prices listed are current as of 10/24/23.

Prices: It can pay to head to Lutsen earlier in the season as the "First Tracks" dates from 11/18-12/25 offer reduced price lift tickets at $85 per adult (ages 16-79). Under 5 years of age and over 80 are free!

- 10% or 1/10 trails are considered to be expert level.
*There are 9 lifts at the resort and you'll never wait too long to reach your peak. Another benefit to capacity limitation. For anyone that has skied around the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St.Paul) you're well aware of how an overcrowded day can go on the slopes.

(Pro tip: If you need to rent gear and Lutsen is sold out you can also grab gear in Tofte at Sawtooth Outfitters on your way up the shore. You'll be passing by on Highway 61 and Sawtooth can often bail you out if you're in a pinch)
