This unique terrain allows for exploration of water pools and the discovery of an amazing swimming hole approximately 10 minutes up the trail. As you can see, this small-but-mighty trail offers a little fun for everyone.
Onion River Hiking Trail
The Onion River Hiking Trail, accessible from Ray Berglund State Wayside, is a hidden gem that tends to be less crowded than other trails, ensuring a more private and serene hiking experience. Situated about 1 mile from Tofte Trails, this 1.1-mile out-and-back trail offers quick access to breathtaking views of Lake Superior within half an hour. What makes this trail particularly unique is its offering of summer and fall hiking experiences inside the gorge when water levels are low. Hikers can explore water pools and even stumble upon an amazing swimming hole about 10 minutes up the trail.
Lookout Mountain Loop Trail
Nestled within Cascade River State Park, the Lookout Mountain Loop Trail stands out as a must-visit hiking option. This 3.2-mile loop presents moderate difficulty and a diverse range of terrain.
